square-whatsappSocial Networking Message Notifications Not Showing

Issue:

“I cannot see WhatsApp/Messenger/Instagram message notifications in PhoneParental.”

Follow the steps below.

1. Check that Notification Access is enabled

On the child’s device:

Settings → Notifications → Notification Access Make sure PhoneParental is turned ON.

2. Check if the social networking app shows content in notifications

Each app has its own notification settings.

For example, on WhatsApp:

WhatsApp → Settings → Notifications → Message notifications → Show preview = ON

If preview is OFF, PhoneParental will not receive message text.

3. Check system privacy settings

Some devices hide notification content by default.

Go to:

Settings → Lock Screen → Hide Content / Sensitive Notifications Turn OFF any setting that hides message details.

4. Ensure “Do Not Disturb” is not blocking notifications

Go to:

Settings → Sounds & Vibration → Do Not Disturb Disable or allow notifications from all apps.

5. Confirm that the app actually generated a notification

PhoneParental only receives new notifications.

If:

  • the app was open on screen

  • chats were already viewed

  • the message was muted

  • the sender is archived or blocked

No notification is created, so PhoneParental receives nothing.

6. Check battery optimization / background restrictions

Some devices restrict apps from receiving notifications.

Go to:

Settings → Battery → App Optimization / Battery Saver Allow PhoneParental and the messaging app to run without restrictions.

7. Check if the notification only displays “New message”

Some apps show limited previews based on privacy mode.

Example:

  • “1 new message”

  • “New message from a contact”

In these cases, PhoneParental cannot extract message content.
